“There was a business challenge and a technical challenge that needed to be addressed, and I thought this is the right place where we have the right, idea with respect to what can be done to these retired batteries. They have significant life and performance that is left over.”
- Surinder Singh, Founder & CEO of Relyion
refurbishing retired ev batteries for second life applications in stationary energy storage.
EV batteries at the end of their first life are either stored idle or disposed of, despite retaining ~80% of their capacity and valuable resources. The diversity of battery designs and chemistries limits mass recycling and also wastes the residual capacity left over when these batteries are retired.
Relyion is a scalable solution for mass recovery of second life batteries. Their technology creates second life opportunities in energy storage, further increasing grid resilience and enabling the switch to renewable assets. Because Relyion’s technology is compatible with nearly all lithium-ion battery chemistries, their solution is easily adopted across all EV batteries and beyond.
